Competition in the Berbice Football Association Senior League will motor on today at Burnham Park Ground, New Amsterdam. In the lone fixture, Cougars will match skills with Rosignol United from 16:00hrs; preceding this match-up will be an Under-17 clash between Rosignol United and New Amsterdam United from 14:00hrs.
The lone game yesterday featured home team Monedderlust and Pistons United at the #5 Playfield.
In latest play, Monedderlust were hammered by Cougars 1-4, while Rosignol United and New Amsterdam United battled to a 2-2 stalemate.
Cougars’ goals were netted by Jumaul Joseph in the 16th minute, Winston Benjamin netted a brace (19 & 45) and Stephan De Florimonte added one for good measure in the 90th minute. Monedderlust’s consolation effort came off the boot of Henry Watts ten minutes to game time.
New Amsterdam took the lead against Rosignol through Adrian ‘Garnett’ Adams goal in the 39th minute, a lead they enjoyed at the half way mark. Adams doubled the advantage for his team in the 70th minute from the penalty spot.
New Amsterdam perhaps thought that they were cruising at this point but that was not to be as Delroy Fraser rocked the nets for Rosignol in the 75th and 85th minute to ensure an equal share of the points.
At the Blairmont CDC Ground in match three, Rosignol United whipped Pistons United 3-0. Delroy Fraser netted twice (45 & 51), Kieron McDonald was on target in the 64th minute.
There were also wins for New Amsterdam United over Cougars 2-1; Cougars needled Pistons United compliments of a Kelvin Joseph penalty. New Amsterdam United mauled Monedderlust 6-2; Adrian Adams banged in four (15, 58, 77, 90), Delroy Ferdinand (39) and Leonardo Adams (47).
