The national school girls Windball Cricket team recently returned home from a tour of Barbados where they competed in the 10th Annual West Indies Championship.
According to a release from the Local Organising Committee, the team despite failing to register a win managed to secure the Most Disciplined Team and the Most Disciplined Player awards which went to Rochel Smith.
In results of three of the matches the Guyanese were involved in are as follows:
Trinidad and Tobago beat Guyana by 51 runs.
Taking first strike, T&T made 118-4 off 15 overs with C. Edwards 33 & K. Edwards 30. Bowling for Guyana, Sharmilla Sookraj took 2-14, Pernella London 1-20 & Fazeena Seeambar 1-22.
In reply, Guyana was restricted to 67-6, Sookraj 13, Andriska Mickle 12.
Guyana then lost to Barbados by 85 runs.
Barbados compiled 124-4 with West Indies players Pamela Lavine 50 and Shaquaba Quintin 40, being the principal scorers.
The Bajans then bowled out Guyana for a paltry 39.
Guyana then went down to St. Vincent & the Grenadines (SVG) by 101 runs. SVG posted an imposing147 -2 off the allotted overs.
Guyana was routed for 46. Akisha Odai 21, Towana Thomson 12.
