A motorcyclist known only as Jason of 107 Tucber Park, New Amsterdam was on Thursday seriously injured around 19:00 hrs when his motor cycle CF 8372 collided with a car at the junction of Main Street and Harkman’s Lane in New Amsterdam.
According to information, Jason was proceeding along Main Street heading towards Stanleytown when in the vicinity of Harkman’s lane a car drove out of the cross street and into the path of the motorcyclist causing the collision.
The impact it is understood threw Jason into the air and over the car. The man who was wearing his safety helmet was picked up in an unconscious condition bleeding through his mouth and nose and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
The car driver appeared jaded when he exited the car. He and the vehicle were subsequently taken to the Central Police station where he remains in custody pending investigation and the vehicle impounded.
The bike was purchased less than two weeks ago.
