The third Day of Interaction organized for 2011 will be held at Good Success, Wakenaam Island in Region # 3 on Saturday, May 07, 2011.
This event which is in its fifth year is touching new areas. The programme, which is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/ National Sports Commission, the Regional Democratic Council, Regions # 2 and 3 and the Wakenaam NDC, will be held at the Good Success Community Centre Ground.
The proceedings start from 09:00hrs with a March Past of athletes and officials. The sports disciplines will include Softball Cricket (male and female), Football, Circle Tennis, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Domino and will also see athletes participating in track events such as 100m for boys and girls under 12, 15 and 19, Buns, Egg and Spoon races among others.
In attendance at this historic event will be Minister of Culture Youth and Sport, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony, Director of Sport, Mr. Neil Kumar, Regional Chairmen of Regions # 2 and 3, Mr. Ali Baksh and Mr. Julius Faeber, Chairman, Wakenaam NDC, Mr. Zakair Khan and other Regional and NDC Officials.
At the Closing Ceremony, prizes will be distributed to outstanding performers – teams and individuals.
Personnel from the Guyana Police Force and the Ministry of Health will be at the venue through the day.
There will be no selling or consumption of alcohol inside the venue. No one under the influence of alcohol will be allowed to enter or stay inside the venue.
It is anticipated that hundreds of athletes, officials and supporters will gather at the Good Success Community Centre to be involved in a memorable Day of Interaction. The Softball teams that participated in the just concluded GT&T 10/10 National Competitions will also be playing in the weekend Day of Interaction.
The female matches are expected to be highly competitive.
