Dear Editor,
It is with a deep sense of relief that I learnt of the killing of Osama bin Laden.
For the past 10 odd years the world has been in a state of upheaval and mistrust, due in no small part to the events of September 11th 2001.
Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda network widely claimed responsibility for that attack on innocent civilians and the USA.
As a result terrorists all over the world became embolden by the seemingly inability of the USA to capture or bring bin Laden to justice. I believe and hope, the action on the part of the U.S.A. and its military in Pakistan on 01st, May 2011 will strengthen the resolve of peace loving people all over the world to relentlessly fight violent cowards who attack in the name of religion and racism.
I am now certain that the incumbent American president will be rewarded by the American voters, with a second term in the White House.
For that single act of restoring Americans sense of pride and accomplishment at a time when the American economy is in bad shape, and their ability to police the world is in question, Americans will unite behind their leader.
And so it should be, we in Guyana should take a page out of the U.S. book as it relates to rewards and punishment of our politicians come elections.
