Dear Editor,
I was in Vietnam and was not able to access Mr. Freddie Kissoon’s diatribe and polemics.
But attention has been brought to me about disparaging and inaccurate (what is new) remarks Kissoon made about me in his column “Looking for a place to survive” (Kaieteur News, April 22).
Kissoon claims I have an obsession with him saying “over the past years Vishnu Bisram writes (sic) a weekly letter in Kaieteur News, only on Kissoon, absolutely nothing else!”
That is grossly inaccurate and a wild exaggeration. Let me make it absolutely clear, I have no obsession with Kissoon or with anyone else.
In fact, the opposite is true – Freddie has an obsession with me judging from the large volume he penned distorting my writings, polls, occupation and professionalism.
Over the years, just a few of my published letters were responses to Kissoon and I did not pen a weekly letter on Kissoon or on anyone else. Several of my responses to him were not published.
Over the years, I wrote on a variety of issues and concerns and ‘reports” of activities relating to Guyanese in the Diaspora. Less than 1% of my ‘columns’ were on Kissoon and basically they were to defend myself against his unsubstantiated allegations, charges, claims and accusations.
Freddie has a penchant for lies, distortions and exaggerations and these have been repeatedly exposed by myself and others.
Readers would recall Kissoon claimed I am not an educator in America or any where in the world and I don’t travel any where.
He denigrated my good name and reputation as a pollster and launched a barrage of attacks against me without one iota of evidence to back his claims.
When his allegations were disproven, he refused to apologise or even admit he erred. He refused to give me credit for my polls and distorts their findings.
For the record, I have no spiteful feelings against Freddie. I defended Freddie in several letters and criticised those who used the “books issue” against him. The editors of Kaieteur News and SN can confirm that I wrote in support of Freddie for the continuation of his daily column, taking the same position as Dr. Joey Jagan. Also, I do not agree with Glenn Lall’s reprimand of Freddie in a recent column although Glenn is right in saying better editing and oversight of Freddie’s columns are needed.
But the fact remains, Freddie blundered in several columns and should be reprimanded for them.
I do not agree with most of Freddie’s views in his columns but as President Jagdeo said at a meeting on Friday night in Queens he, like I, will defend Freddie’s right to write them. But Freddie penning claims does not mean they are correct. Most of his interpretations of theories are inaccurate.
