Beat Albion and Young Warriors
National Cricket Captain Assad Fudadin led by example to spearhead the Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets First Division team to victory in the Guyanese Women in Development (GUYWID) Twenty20 fundraising tournament at the Cumberland Cricket Ground last weekend.
Albion and Rose Hall Town Gismos & Gadgets played in the lone semifinal with Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets batting first after winning the toss and amassed 145 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs with Shailendra Hardyal 28 (3×4), Renwick Batson 26 (5×4, 1×6), Rajiv Ivan 26 (2×6, 2×4) and Fudadin 25 (2×4, 2×6) being the principal scorers.
Bowling for Albion, H. Ramdihal took 3 for 18 and Ramnarine Chattergoon 2 for 25. Needing to score 146 from 20 overs, the strong Albion Team was dismissed for 137 in 19.5 overs; Ramdihal returned with the bat to blast 38 (3×6, 4×4) while Harrinarine Chattergoon 25, Jonathan Foo 17 and Doodnauth Lallbeharry 17 offered support.
Off spinner Rajiv Ivan snared 3 for 12 for RHT Gizmos & Gadgets while Eon Hooper took 2 for 12 from and Shawn Pereira 2 for 34.
In the finals between RHT Gismos & Gadgets and Young Warriors, the home team was asked to take first strike after losing the toss. They were able to score 140 off 15 overs with Wahied Edwards 38 (3×4, 2×6) and Balram Samaroo 33 (2×4, 2×6) being the main scorers. Kevin Ramdeen 22 and Gajanand Singh 15 also reached double figures.
Rajiv Ivan grabbed 4 for 25 from 3 overs and Shailendra Shameer 2 for 20 for the visitors.
In reply, RHT Gizmos & Gadgets achieved victory led by a solid 65 not out from the experienced Fudadin, a knock that included 5 boundaries and four huge sixes.
Ivan 35 and Jason Sinclair 15 not out supported Fudadin as RHT Gizmos & Gadgets reached 141 for 4 in 19.2 overs. Fudadin was later named of Player-of-the-tournament and received a trophy.
The winners received the winning trophy and $30,000 while Albion collected $25,000 and Cameron a trophy and $5,000 for being named man-of-the-final.
