Dear Editor,
A philosopher once said “Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.” Before 1992, old guard PPP politicians like Gail Teixeira were in the forefront advocating against Burnham’s abuse of state resources, (use of the GDF airplane and other state resources to conduct PNC party activities).
How better is the PPP election campaign today? Mabaruma, Lethem, Club Tobago in New York and many other locations compliments of the State.
How much more unethical can the PPP become, that they have to disrespect Cheddi’s core values of lean and clean to such an extent. How different is the PPP from the old PNC?
The PPP condemned the PNC’s Ministry of National Mobilisation pre-1992, yet they have re-invented this entire operation in the Office of the President.
This is madness. The PPP is now shamelessly using state resources to campaign to the disadvantage of the political opposition.
This is madness. To expose this truth, why is Gail Teixeira as a Presidential Advisor not handing out tractors in Region Nine? Why Ramotar? Whom does the PPP think they are fooling? This is madness.
Thus their reaction to the AFC campaign finance bill is predictable. It is another sign of madness.
They will do what they want with other people’s money for as long as other people give them that right. That is also madness.
I was fortunate to view a conversation between the AFC and some working women from a Berbice village as they complain on how the PPP Government is short changing them with no repairs to their dam, no help for flooded out crops, no progress on the increase in crime in their area and poor hospital facilities, among the many other issues.
The AFC asked “what are you gonna do about it”. These women answered “we done with the PPP, we voting for the KEY and the AFC.”
Non-acceptance of this fact by the likes of Joey Jagan is tantamount to marijuana madness. Sorry Joey, the AFC will shock you with political electricity after the 2011 elections.
How absurd can the PPP get as they engage is public trickery by appointing Donald Ramotar as an Advisor. Gail is quoted in the Press as saying “the AFC is nitpicking”. She went even further to say that “the President can determine who he wishes to sit in his government and who he wishes as his advisors and this is not a problem by law or the Constitution of Guyana”.
This argument is another sign of the PPP madness. No one is questioning the President’s right to appoint his advisors. What is under question is why only now?
Did “goat bite” Donald in 2006 to prevent his appointment into the Jagdeo Government? Let us be honest, Donald is a much more credible candidate to serve Jagdeo than the gun slinging, domestic abusive official that knocks down old men with his Government vehicle and drives away.
Get the drift, the Ramotar advisory appointment is another sign of the PPP madness.
The people are fully aware how the PPP works. They change the law after the financial abuses on the Sanata deal for a business that was a clear sign of their madness.
Now they appoint Donald a state advisor after the fact as a result of the advocacy from the AFC on their abuse of state resources. That is another sign of their madness.
In the PPP, they do not care about moral authority. In their minds, once they have the Commissioner of Police, the Head of the GDF and other key state officials in their back pocket as political concubines, to hell with the rice farmers and the sugar workers and the bauxite workers and the ordinary police people, nurses, teachers and public servants.
This is their madness on full display because these workers have votes unless rigging of elections is a new option in the PPP.
This state of perpetual madness in the PPP does not make them any better than the PNC in the dying days of the Burnham regime. The people are on to the PPP and PNCR’s political deception.
A vote for the PPP is a vote for the PNC is a living fact in the people’s minds. All along these two political dinosaurs were two peas of the same pod, but were using subterfuge to divide and rule the unaware majority.
The PNC and the PPP held on to their respective racial enclaves over the last decade under Jagdeo with lies, subterfuge and deceit.
Thus the explanation why they divided the G$100 million scrutinizer money between themselves in a backroom deal totally shutting out the AFC, even though the AFC won six seats (yes Sam Hinds sits on an AFC seat).
This state of perpetual madness explains why the PPP did back room deals with the PNC in the Hinterland Regions to divide up the electoral spoils so that the PPP and PNC can respectively strengthen their electoral fortunes by shutting out the AFC with more subterfuge.
How does any of this make Guyana any better? It doesn’t! Time to recognise a vote for the PPP is a vote for the PNC. A vote for the PNC is a vote for the PPP. A vote for Granger is a vote for Corbin and Ramotar.
A vote for Ramotar is a vote for Corbin. The working people of this country have been fooled for too long as a result of their racial insecurities.
That ended since 2006. For the first time in the history of our country we have a credible alternative – the Alliance for Change (AFC).
The year 2011 offer them a golden opportunity to vote on issues. We in the AFC ask the voting population to measure us on the issues, our solutions and the advocacy we provide on the challenges being left on their shoulders by the PPP.
Please read our Action Plan at www.voteafc.com and share your feedback with us so that when this Action Plan is finalised, it will be a document prepared by the people, of the people and for the people’s betterment.
