Blairmont Community Centre Under-13 cricket team pulled off an upset win beat Young Warriors of Cumberland on first innings in their drawn quarter-final and in the process earned a place in the semi finals of the Ricks & Sari Agro Industries Under-13 cricket competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board.
In the match which was played at Cumberland, Young Warriors lost the toss and was invited to bat first. They were skittled out for a paltry 84 in their first innings; Adrian Persaud’s 17 being the scorer getting into double figures.
Bowling for Blairmont, off spinner Akeem Miller took 3 for 15 and left arm spinner Parmanand Ramdhan 2 for 16.
When Blairmont Community Centre began their response, they soon slipped to 30 for 3 but No. 3 batsman Parmanand Ramdhan batted well to keep the innings together. He slammed 91 (13×4, 2×6) which saw Blairmont to crucial first innings honors, they were bowled out for 148. Akeem Miller chipped in with 15. Bowling for Young Warriors pacer Desmond Griffith took 3 for 39.
Young Warriors facing a first innings deficit of 57 runs reached 163 for 3 with Berbice Under-15 batsman Shimron Hetmyer slamming 62 (5×4, 4×6) and Kassim Khan 35.
