RHT Metro & Tucber Park face off today
The Berbice Cricket Board organised Millie Lewis Memorial Female cricket tournament is set to bowl off with the County’s only two female teams Rose Hall Town Metro and Tucber Park clashing in the first of three matches at the Area ‘H’ Ground, today.
The tournament is being sponsored by popular contractor Peter Lewis of Hampshire in memory of his late mother, Millie.
The teams will play a two best in three series of matches for the title of Berbice Female champions. The reigning national female champions Rose Hall Town Metro would start as strong favorites at home.
West Indies player and national Captain Shemaine Campbelle will lead the home team’s quest for victory with both bat and ball. Support will come from West Indies pacer Erva Giddings and national players Melanie Henry, Nikita Toney, Natasha Gangoo and junior national all-rounder Jacquelin Singh.
Tucber Park’s challenge will be spearheaded by the West Indies duo of Tremayne Smartt and Subrina Munroe as well as the experienced Tracey Miller. Back up comes from Katana Mentore, Ceylon Daniels, and Steffi Rodney. The 40-Over game bowls off at 11.00 hours.
