Dear WICB,
I am a Guyanese. I am a West Indian cricket supporter for as long as I could have appreciated what is cricket. I can boldly assert that I speak for thousands of our Caribbean people and say that no matter what the state of West Indies cricket, we will remain steadfast in our support for the West Indies team. Be that as it may, I wish to make it clear that our passionate support of the team does not translate into acquiescence of decisions made at the managerial/coaching/selector level, and we certainly will voice our disapproval in the most passionate manner at players who don’t seem keen on positive performance.
On May 5, 2011 the West Indies are scheduled to take on a young Pakistani side at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. I will guarantee you that the National Stadium will be packed. I wish to make it clear that the anticipated capacity crowds at Providence is not an indication of support by Guyanese of your recent policy of non-selection of senior players, or of your insipid explanations of your current selection and management policy.
In spite of your ludicrous decisions, the Guyanese public is starved for international cricket, and will turn out in their numbers to support this venture. It will be all about a good cricket ‘lime’ and absolutely not about support of the WICB selection and management policies.
