Klass in feature remarks challenged the youngsters to be disciplined and committed as players and students. School and a sound education, the GFF boss said forms the foundation for everything in life, ensuring a solid future.
“Football is life according to FIFA President Sepp Blatter and you need to enjoy life and in life you must have that fundamental base to take you to the next level.”
Klass also noted that the level of players produced in years gone by was as a result of players having a sound education while noting that the problem today is that we seem to be drifting away from players running away from the school rather than running to the school.
“We cannot over emphasize the need for you to stay in school and don’t just pass through the school system, you need to leave with something solid in order to compete in today’s world. A sound education can only enhance your future.” Klass thanked the sponsors and coaches for their commitment to the tournament also.
Boyce in remarks stated that Continental Group of Companies was very pleased with the way the tournament was conducted and is very encouraged with the level of competition witnessed.
“I think what I saw for the days that I attended and at the final is very encouraging and you should just look at this as a tournament in April 2011, but look ahead when you are going to be with the Under-17, 19 or 21 and also aspiring to be a National player and playing beyond Guyana.
So this has been a great stepping stone for you and I would like to let you know that Sunburst will again be here for you next year.”
Jones, who also represented Len’s Craft Optical, complimented the players and teams for their hard work during the tournament.
“I just want to encourage you to keep the dream alive, stay in school and be the best you can be. I can only continue to encourage you to stay focus, stay on the right path and it will happen for you.”
Green, who donated the gold, silver and bronze medals and was instrumental in getting Caribbean Cargo to donate two trophies through Manager Franklin Vieira, informed the gathering of players and officials that he is committed to the development of youths.
“My whole thing about soccer is to make sure that the youths have something to occupy their time, playing ball and being active instead of just being idle. I was impressed with the level of play and energy I saw in the final. Playing ball without an education is not going to take you anyplace so you need to take note of that and stay in school.”
Laing also commended the teams for making the tournament a success while informing that his passion is always about giving back especially to youths. He encouraged the youths to aim for the skies always, stay in school and continue to strive for excellence.
Tournament coordinator Franklin Wilson extended gratitude to all for making the tournament a success.
Len’s Craft Optical, Sunburst Orange Juice, Caribbean Cargo – Franklin ‘Bobby’ Vieira, Kashif & Shanghai Organisation, Guyana Football Federation, Ralph Green and the Trophy Stall of Bourda Market were the sponsors of the tournament.
