This year’s final Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Memorial Schools Football Competition will have a new champion after both defending champion Wisburg Secondary and inaugural winners Linden Foundation were relegated to play for third place after they lost on aggregate goals to Christianburg / Wismar and Harmony Secondary respectively in semi-final action, at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground recently.
In the opening contest, Christianburg / Wismar beat Wisburg 4-1 on aggregate, while Harmony advanced by a 7-3 margin over Linden Foundation.
In the return fixtures: Christianburg / Wismar defeated Wisburg 1-0 with Dorwayne Luke netting the winner in the 60th minute, while Harmony and Linden Foundation drew 2-2.
On target for Harmony were Joshawn Freeman (55th) and Colwin Davids (63rd), while Nathaniel Duke (43rd) and Andrew Breedy (60th) responded for Linden Foundation.
The question that everyone is asking now is whether two-time runners-up C/Burg-Wismar Secondary could finally go one better on this occasion and capture the elusive trophy or will knockout stage debutant Harmony Secondary, make them ‘second best’ for a third consecutive year.
All these questions and more will be answered on Tuesday, May 3, at the MSC ground, starting from 13:30 hrs.
Meanwhile, Harmony Secondary’s Colwyn Davids seems the frontrunner for this year’s Highest Goalscorer award, compliments of Fantasia Comfort Zone Taxi Service after leading with 5 goals.
