A bandit got more than he bargained for yesterday afternoon after he pounced on a Kaieteur News reporter yesterday afternoon.
Some time after 17:00 hours Rabindra Rooplall was walking along High Street when he was attacked by a man who dealt him a blow to his head and proceeded to rob him.
However thinking that his target was a walk over the man got more than he bargained for. The reporter retaliated and before long he was assisted by a passing taxi driver.
The two managed to overpower the bandit whom they beat. The bandit had already taken away the reporter’s camera which the men were able to recover.
But the bandit however managed to slip out of the hand of the taxi driver when the reporter left to call his office, and fled into the nearby St Philip’s Green where he hid in the overgrowth.
Rooplall’s colleagues arrived just in time to see the man rise from a clump of bushes and flee into the residences along D’Urban Street where he managed to escape.
