Supenaam stelling back in operation after a one day lull

Officials at the previously abandoned Adventure Ferry Stelling said that operations at the Supenaam-Good Hope ferry stelling resumed yesterday.
On Thursday mooring operations had to be swiftly diverted to Adventure after further problems were again encountered at the Supenaam-Good Hope.
According to reports, hinges supporting the faulty drawbridge broke and the staff at Adventure, fearing a major catastrophe, immediately diverted all ferry services at Adventure.

Clerk at the Adventure stelling, Lall, said that further repair works had to be conducted on Good Friday to repair the hinges that broke from the drawbridge. Minister of Transport and Hydraulics, Roberson Benn visited the facility.
Last Monday, the faulty Supenaam- Good Hope stelling collapsed and the authorities were again forced to divert services at Adventure, after the ramp leading to the drawbridge broke loose from its pontoon support.
Early in the year the $500 million Supenaam-Good Hope Ferry Stelling was put into operation by officials of T.H.D
Ever since that time to today, the multimillion dollar facility has encountered numerous problems hampering efficiency in its operations. Alliance For Change councillor Francis Darchiville who recently toured the facility is strongly contending that the design does not augur well for the present mode of transportation service, which is the three boats that are in effect.
“Unless the two intended boats from China are used, which is more compatible for the present design, officials at T&H.D continue to chop to force the facility to work”.
