Apr 21, 2011 Letters
Dear Editor,
After reading Malcolm Harripaul’s letter in the Kaieteur News of April 18, 2011, “Fascism is evident in the regime on a daily basis”, I am convinced that everything and anything makes it to the printed pages of the news.
In this letter, Harripaul talks about the Guyanese couple who was recently granted asylum in Canada.
His letter carries shocking accusations that I am sure he has no proof of, and thus, should be dismissed as malicious gossip. First of all, and most importantly, Malcolm Harripaul should understand that in any democracy, as Canada is, whatever is said in a court of law is public information.
I will ask that this fellow disclose to the public, the source of his information to the public. When Malcolm Harripaul can tell the public he seeks to mislead, the source of his information, and where the transcripts of the said court hearing are, and can show them to the Guyanese public, then and only then should his accusations be considered.
This fellow believes that he can thwart the ongoing process of progress that the government is effecting in Guyana by propagandizing his lies in the daily papers.
He has disregarded the fundamental questions that should always be applied when assimilating and presenting facts to the public. Those questions are ‘who, what, when, where, and why’. He is wrong in his thinking that his lies will not be questioned.
