The Pele Football Club 40th Anniversary Under-17 knock-out tournament got off to a brisk start yesterday afternoon at the Georgetown Football Club Ground with two matches.
In the main event, Fruta Conquerors led by a double from Pernel Schultz knocked off the challenge of Flamingo. Schultz converted in the 5th and 31st minute with the other goal coming off the boot of Jamal Garraway.
Pele were taken beyond regulation time by a tough Renaissance side. The yellow and blue boys were finally able to break the deadlock through a Deon Alfred goal in the first minute of extra time. Three minutes later, an own goal put the game away for Pele and beyond the reach of Renaissance.
One game is set for today at the Camptown Ground when the home team will entertain Santos from 15:00hrs.
