‘Cobra’ multiple cases continue

Tyrone Rowe, called ‘Cobra’, for whom a wanted bulletin was issued some time back, and who subsequently surrendered to media operatives, made yet another appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for the continuation of two of several offences for which he is charged with.
In most if not all of the cases ‘Cobra’ is being unrepresented.  One of the robbery under arms charges and damage to the Guyana Police Force property are engaging the attention of Magistrate Sueanna Lovell.
For both offences ‘Cobra’ was further remanded to the Camp Street detention centre until May 3.
The police are alleging that on May 16, 2010, ‘Cobra’ while armed  with a gun, robbed Mark Hunte of a large quantity of gold jewelry worth $580,000. He was not required to plead.
That incident took place at Tucville Squatting Area, Georgetown.
‘Cobra’ is also charged with damaging the identification parade (ID) glass on September 4, 2010. At the time of the occurrence he was in a police lineup.
Police Prosecutor, Neville Jeffers, is representing the prosecution. At the commencement of the trial, Hunte was led in his evidence in chief by the prosecution.
The accused who was unrepresented cross-examined the witness. In an earlier hearing Jeffers indicated to the court that the prosecution is prepared to call seven witnesses to testify during the trial.
Based on police reports the (ID) glass was valued $1.4 million in local currency. To the charge Rowe pleaded not guilty.
Policeman Chetram Seeram who is stationed at the Brickdam Police Station and attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) took to the witness stand in the pervious hearing and related the role he played in the damaged to property allegation.
Another witness, Sergeant Erick Bharrat, was also called by the prosecution. The Sergeant is employed by the Guyana Police Force at the construction section.
The accused was given the opportunity to cross-examine both witnesses and he did.
