Gandhi Youth Organisation, in an effort to prepare themselves for the return to the first division and to launch their club again, has organized a number of cricket matches.
On Sunday last at the GYO ground, the East Bank team played GYO. The home team won the toss and batted first scoring 303 for 6, off 40 overs with T. Chanderpaul scoring 127 run out, an innings of class and elegance. A. Ifill bullied a 106 not out, which included 6 massive 6’s and 11 4’s. Bowling for East Bank, Benn took 2 for 49 off 8.
In reply East Bank could only manage 173 all out with D. Sarjoo 44 and E. Hinds 43 offering some resistance. R. Hoyte for GYO took 4 for 11 from 2, S. Mohamed and C. Reid got 2 each.
GYO will continue their preparation for first division cricket with a match against Everest shortly.
Meanwhile, the club is continuing its youth programmes with 7 – 15yrs old boys at the club this week. They will be taken through their paces under the watchful eye of the club coach Mr. Clive Grimmond.
