The taxi driver who was involved in last Friday’s accident at Orangestein, East Bank Essequibo which claimed the life of a Beterverwagting man has been granted bail.
Oswald Boston, called ‘Bonnie’, of Crane, West Coast Demerara made his first court appearance yesterday at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s court where he was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
He managed to secure bail from Magistrate Sherdell Isaacs-Marcus.
It is alleged that on Friday April 15, last, on the Orangestein Public Road he drove motorcar HB 7753 in a dangerous manner, causing the death of 53-year-old Steve Albert Rogers.
After listening to the accused lawyer’s submission, the Magistrate placed him on $250,000 bail. Boston is expected to make his next court appearance on June 15.
On Friday last, motorcar HB 7753 was heading west along the southern side of the road when it lost control, ended up on the northern side of the road, and struck a bridge and container which was on the road.
A four-year-old child who was also a passenger in the car was also injured, Boston escaped without injuries.
