Mohamed Kumkarran, 38, and a former field worker employed with Guysuco Rose Hall Estate hanged himself in his house on Saturday.
The resident of Vryheid, West Canje Berbice, was separated from his wife for over a year. According to reports, Kumkarran has been living alone ever since their separation. He then began to drink heavily, his neighbours said.
He had reportedly told some friends recently that he would kill himself because he was fed up with life, due to his wife leaving him and all the hardship in the country.
He was last seen around 14:00 hrs on Friday, under the influence, and it was then that he reportedly told his friend that he can’t take the hardship any longer and that he would kill himself.
He was reportedly found around 07:00 hrs on Saturday by some persons grazing cows in the area.
