Fire Service close to releasing findings into two fires

As investigation continues into the fire at Aranka where Venezuelan national, Fransisco Silva died, investigators believe that the fire may have been the work of an arsonist. A source close to the investigation said that the statements taken so far suggest that fire was set to a building however no arrest has been made to date.
On April 2, last, fire completely destroyed two buildings in the Aranka Backdam. According to reports from the area, Silva and a few other friends had recently moved into the mining location to seek employment.
It is still not clear why the building was set alight and who may have been responsible.
Meanwhile, the Guyana Fire Service is yet to make public its findings into the recent Meten-Meer-Zorg fire which saw millions of dollars going up in flames. This newspaper was told that the fire service is seeking the assistance of experts from Guyana Power and Light Company before making their final ruling.
However, the preliminary findings, this newspaper was told, suggest that the fire may have been electrical in origin.
On March 29, last, fire broke out at the Saver’s Choice multi-million dollar complex located in Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara. Initial reports had stated that the fire started at a main switch in one of the two buildings located in the compound.
