Burglars carted off more than $7M worth of electronic gadgets from the Tech Media, a store located at Robb and King Streets. Kaieteur News understands that the intruders entered the store by smashing a large hole in a wall near the ceiling.
Store manager Renita Ramgobin told Kaieteur News that she arrived at the store around 08:30 hrs yesterday and made the discovery.
Ramgobin said that after she opened the grilled door she immediately saw that the glass case which usually contained cell phones was empty.
“After I open the grill door I saw the casing empty…all the phones were gone.”
Ramgobin said she made further checks around the store and found that all the other cell phones, digital cameras and DVD players in the storage room were gone.
“All the gadgets were taken…they took it all, the only thing they left were the phone casings and chargers.”
The manager said she called the Brickdam police station to report the theft. According to the woman, she was told that someone needed to come to the station to report it. Ramgobin said she sent one of her staffers.
It took sometime before the employee returned with the police. The manager said this was not the first time that the store had been hit by burglars. She said that the owners are now contemplating closing the business down, because of the significant losses.
