Another PI commences for ‘Cobra’

Tyrone Rowe, popularly known as ‘Cobra’, Amad Lallchand aka Rondy and Dwayne Critchlow were all charged for the offence of robbery under arms, allegedly committed on Troy Collins sometime last year. But unfortunately lawmen were unable to apprehend Critchlow who is still at large. The two accused who did appear were unrepresented, and were not required to plea.
The preliminary inquiry (PI) commenced yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The prosecutor, Corporal Venetta Pindar, led Collins, who is a taxi driver, in relating his evidence in chief. At the conclusion of yesterday’s proceedings, the witness did not complete his testimony.
As Collins was testifying, Rowe and Lallchand who were seated in the prisoners’ dock accused the witness of lying to the court. This caused the Magistrate to sternly caution the visibly upset suspects. The matter will be called again on April 29, when Collins will continue giving evidence.
Magistrate Sueanna Lovell late last week heard the PI into another robbery under arms which was allegedly committed by Rowe.
During that hearing, Sergeant Neville Jeffers who is representing the prosecution alleged that Mark Hunte was robbed of $580,000 worth in gold jewellery on May 16, 2010 by Rowe.
That incident allegedly took place at Tucville Squatting Area in Georgetown. At the commencement of that PI, Hunte was led by the prosecution in relating his evidence and upon conclusion, Rowe, who was at the time unrepresented, cross-examined the witness.
