Veteran and former national champion Ulric Harris produced a remarkable performance to beat a strong field on Sunday in the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players Open Competition which was played, at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
Harris ended with 5 wins and a positive spread of 66 to leave four other players battling for the minor positions with 4 points apiece.
However, when the dust cleared, the in-form Moen Gafoor occupied the second spot after closing with a spread of 325, while another national champion Ewart Adams secured third with a spread of 279.
The other players with 4 victories were Maurice Munroe (81) and Orlando Michael (66).
Some twelve players participated in the day’s event. The next event will be is the Insurance Brokers Lien Trophy Competition on April 24.
