… After teen jumps from moving car
The taxi driver who was accused of attempting to abduct 17-year-old Shovone Rampersaud, of 152 Lodge Housing Scheme never returned to the East La Penitence Police Station as he promised.
He also refused to answer his cellular phones when police ranks called the given contact numbers.
Reports are that the driver of the car while reporting to a police rank of the incident that took place last Friday, offered police ranks two contact numbers and promised to visit the station if needed, since he insisted that he was innocent and was in fact the victim. He contended that Rampersaud was suicidal.
According to the victim’s mother, Marcelle Burke, a police rank informed her that on several occasions she tried to contact the taxi driver on the contact number he gave but at all times it rang out.
Burke added that the rank stated that she left many voicemails but the perpetrator never responded to any.
On Friday last Rampersaud reportedly jumped out of a moving taxi, after she suspected that the driver was attempting to abduct her. The teen suffered injuries to her head, face, shoulders and ankle.
According to the victim, the driver kept repeatedly seeking personal information from her and was making subtle advances. However she refused to answer him.
He pretended to be deaf and ignored her when she told him to stop at her home.
Both parties reported at the East La Penitence Station shortly after the incident but the driver was never seen after that day.
Burke commented that she is satisfied that “them police trying”.
