Death lurks at every corner. If it does not come from the barrel of a gun then it will come on the streets from speeding cars.
A driver who was banned from driving will take a car and continue as though nothing has happened only to cause another accident because he will be intoxicated. For a few dollars he would escape the punishment he deserves because record-keeping is poor and the people who know would retain their silence.
The relatives of the victim are going to scream to high heavens but again, money in the form of compensation would lead to their silence.

Another household is going to come under attack because the police simply cannot be everywhere at the same time. Once more Canje would be the location, because of its long stretch and the inadequacy of police.
Gunmen, all of them young men in the copycat mode, would attack two more families who are believed to have lots of gold jewellery. One of the attacks would coincide with the return of a family for the holidays. However the police would make arrests. The difficulty would be to get positive identifications.

A river accident would cause some people to rethink their actions for the holidays. Fortunately, it would not place a damper on a major event in another section of the river.
