First sponsor join ranks
The newly formed motor racing team Xtreme is on a charted path and much is anticipated from this outfit, a first in Guyana.
Using the motto “New exciting future of motor sport” the team is indeed on an exciting path. Gavin Gayadin, team representative, confirmed that Nexus Engineering has committed sponsorship dollars in the vicinity of $1M for this year. Gayadin noted that they will offer maximum mileage to any sponsor partnering with them because the entire team will advertise for their sponsors.
Team Xtreme consists of two racecar drivers, Gavin and Ryon Gayadin, Nikil Seereeram on the shifter Kart and lightweight motorcycle rider Andy Rajkarran of grass track fame.
All machines will be emblazoned with the company or products of the sponsors.
Looking at the team and its introduction, Gayadin said they decided to test the waters with its introduction, breaking new ground. At the first meet of the year, team Xtreme broke the lap record in Group 3 with both drivers copping second and third places, while Seereeram won two Kart races and had second in the third.
This Gavin Gayadin describes as a phenomenal start and people can identify with the team, which has made an impact. He stated that the effort the entire team put in was excellent and with the resurfaced track, their
performance was commendable and they will be a force to be reckoned with.
Young Seereeram, at 15 years old, turned in an outstanding drive, passing seven competitors on the way to winning one of his races. His impressive showing has made the team members including his dad, who is one of the mechanics, keen to place him in a racecar soon as part of their development plan for the team.
The siblings, Ryon and Gavin have been chosen to represent Guyana at the Caribbean championship series in Jamaica and Barbados based on their performances, another big plus for the team. Gavin was selected before, but not under the Xtreme banner.
As a consequence, they are looking to secure valuable sponsorship dollars for the road ahead. It is hoped that several of the big local companies will jump to the opportunity and partner with the young and innovative motor racing team.
Sponsors will be guaranteed a wide spread of coverage with the team set to compete in Drag, endurance and the regular major race meets and those overseas engagements.
While noting the need for discipline among their ranks, Gavin Gayadin stated that they are in the process of implementing a code of conduct, which has been part of their ranks, but will be issued officially.
Members are prohibited from any involvement with drugs, drunk driving or speeding and improper road use among others.
Recently two young racecar drivers lost their lives on the road due to accidents. They will hope to be role models, leaving the daredevil performances for the racetrack and observing the rules of the road.
