Defending champions Trophy Stall were surprisingly beaten by Universal Solutions Tigers in their quarter-final matchup by 7 wickets yesterday, at the Everest Cricket Club ground.
Playing in the GT&T 10/10 Softball Cricket Competition last eight segment, Trophy Stall overwhelming favourites to progress to today’s semi-finals and final never looked the team they were last year and were eliminated by a more focused and determined Universal Solution Tigers team who now move on to meet Celebrity Times in the semi-finals.
Watched by a large crowd, Trophy Stall batted first and compiled 93-5 off the allotted overs with Surujpaul Deosarran hitting a top-score of 23, while Mark Harold supported with 20.
Universal Solutions Tigers in reply, reached 94-3 in 9 overs with Javid Mohamed hammering 39.
Universal Solutions Tigers won by 7 wickets.
Regal XI beat Affiance Storm by 39 runs.
Regal XI made 119-3 with Azad Azeez hammering an unbeaten 59 laced with 5 sixes and 4 fours.
Affiance Storm in reply, ended on 80-5. Navindra Persaud contributed 29.
Wolf Warriors the beat Adventure Sports Club by 43 runs.
Wolf Warriors posted an imposing 116-5 with Safraz Karim 28 not out, being the principal scorer. Govinda
Sharma grabbed 4-16.
Adventure SC in reply, made 73-5. Sharma returned to make 32.
Celebrity Times defeated Sandust XI by 9 wickets.
Sandust XI totalled 57-8. Wahid Edwards bagged 3-7.
Celebrity Times in reply, closed on 63-1 off 6 overs.
Balram Samaroo hit 33 not out and Edwards 26 n.o.
In the Ladies category:
Berbice All Stars crushed Wakapoa by 10 wickets.
Wakapoa made 56-9 with Pauline Richards 15.
Berbice All Stars in their turn at the crease ended on 57-0 in 4.4 overs.
West Indies player Shemaine Campbell lashed an unbeaten 40 which contained 3 sixes and 4 fours.
Lusignan Street Warriors sent home MTWTFSS Warriors by 34 runs.
Lusignan made 105-5 with Melissa Cummings hammering a rapid 54 with 4 sixes and 2 fours.
MTWTFSS in reply, reached 71-8.
Trophy Stall Angels beat Falcon Girls by 9 wickets.
Falcon Girls posted 72-3 with Alissa Azad making 41.
Trophy Stall Angels reached the required target, finishing on 73-1 in 7.2 overs.
June Ogle Thomas hit 38 not out.
Mike’s Wellwoman beat Rising Star XI by 96 runs.
Mike’s Wellwoman made 143-3. Kartana Mentore hit 56 with 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Rising Star XI were bowled out for 47.
Meanwhile, the semi-final matchups for today are: Men- Celebrity Times versus Universal Solutions Tigers and Wolf Warriors vs. Regal XI.
In the female segment: Trophy Stall Angels take on Lusignan Street Warriors, while Berbice All Stars battle Mike’s Wellwoman.
Action starts at 09:00 hrs and go all day with a grand musical show brining the day’s activities to a conclusion.
