Princess Hotel extended its support to the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Level I Coaches’ Course in the form of sponsorship. United States of America-based Course Conductor, Richard McAfee will be a guest at the hotel until Tuesday.
Princess Hotel partnered with the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) for what was given as “an important component” of the ITTF Course, which was the second of such to be held in the country in six weeks. GTTA held an ITTF Course in February.
“The GTTA is truly appreciative of Princess’ support for this initiative. We hope to formulate a working partnership with the Hotel to explore opportunities that can be derived from us working together,” GTTA General Secretary, Godfrey Munroe said.
According to Munroe, discussions have been held between the GTTA President, who is also the Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene and Princess Hotel’s management to explore some ways in which they can work together for mutual benefit.
“It is in recognition of those factors that the GTTA views the sponsorship as significant in trying to create the foundation for the proliferation of table tennis in Guyana; programmes such as these are critical,” Munroe continued in his brief comments.
The relationship between Princess and the association became even more eminent since Guyana will host the 2011 Caribbean Table Tennis Championships. Several teams and contingents are to arrive in Guyana in August to compete at the prestigious event.
