Teachers attached at the Novar Nursery School, East Coast Demerara, are peeved at the non-commitment by members of the Ministry of Education, after it was reported that the learning institution was the target of a recent break-in.
According to one aggrieved teacher, the Novar Nursery School, which was vandalised by bandits on March 31, sometime during the night, the information was not treated with any alacrity. To date there has been no response from members of the Education Ministry in that area.
The parent, who contacted this newspaper, stated that the burglary was discovered by teachers of the Novar Nursery School when they showed up for duties.
It was reported that the bandits gained entry through a door and carted away boxes of biscuits and crates of juices. It was also noted that the bandits broke into a vendor’s stall.
Speaking to this newspaper, the parent, who is more concerned about the safety of the children of Novar Nursery and especially her child, said that the main switch which was also tampered with usually sends off sparks whenever teachers attempt to use additional electrical equipment.
“I am not sending my child to school, because of the faulty main switch that would spark.”
The parent’s concerns are also centered on the attitude of members of the Ministry of Education, who were duly informed about the break-in. According to her, no one from the relevant Ministry, has visited the School to date.
