Mr. Editor,
In the Bible it is said that Saul the persecutor of Christians and a ruthless ruler, had an epiphany on the road to Damascus.
Saul later became the Apostle Paul after denouncing his evil and murderous ways and giving his life to the service of the lord.
For a fleeting moment, I thought that President Jagdeo was having such a moment Saturday night at the National Park.
But then I remembered that this is an election year, and the warning the Lord Jesus gave to his followers; “beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but are ravenous wolves (Mathew 7:15) Ones true nature is revealed by their actions, and from the good book we are told; “by their fruits shall ye know them.”
If this President has found righteousness, in this the eleventh hour of his term in office, which just happens to be an election year, then it will rank right up there with the Seven Wonders of the World, and the many mysteries of ancient religion.
I will pray for his salvation, but in the meantime I will judge him on his record as the worst chief executive in the history of Guyana.
I wish that he had truly lived his life respectful of the commandments; this would have spared this nation much shame and pain. Minister Sawh might still be alive or at the very least his executioners brought to justice. The human rights abuses in Guyana may have been prevented.
The three hundred plus citizens that were shot to death, or otherwise unlawfully killed by the ‘black clothes’ squad or other rogue elements of the security forces; the “phantom squad” and all the extra judicial killing attached to these groups of executioners and assassins, all under Mr. Jagdeo’s watch as President of Guyana, may have been aborted.
I am sorry sir but atonement come before forgiveness, and not all who cry Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of heaven. Mr. President you have work to do; stop cussing out and busing down; cast the thieves and robbers out of your cabinet; be benevolent to your people.
That would be a good first step on the road to salvation. Mr. Trotman, my grandmother used to say; show me your company and I will tell you who you are. But then again you are a politician, and politics do make strange bedfellows. Be careful!
