-Jeffrey top of the grid in Group 4
Judging from the times recorded by drivers in Group 4 and 3, motor racing fans across Guyana are in for an exhilarating day of daredevilry when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club hosts its season opener today, at the recently resurfaced South Dakota Circuit.
Headlining the list of outstanding performances yesterday during the time trials was Group 3 & 4 driver Gavin Gayadin piloting a 4AGE BMW and last year local champion Kevin Jeffrey in his Mitsubishi Evolution.
Gayadin driving in the Group 3 category produced a blistering drive to register an astounding 36.3 seconds which apart from giving him pole position could very well be a new lap record in the division, while Jeffrey coasted to the top of the grid after returning an impressive 35.4 seconds to head Group 4.
In Group 4, Jeffrey came home ahead of Canada-based Paul Vieira, while Gayadin will start third and former champion Andrew King just outside of him.
In Group 3, Gayadin led home Kemal Seebarran and Ryan Rahaman in that order.
According to reports, none of the Super Bike riders took to the track and instead will pull from a bag to determine what order they will start.
Young Stanley Ming Jnr. will start on pole in the go-karts and he is ahead of Matthew Vieira and Nickel Seereram.
Twenty-five races are carded for the day and action commences at 09:00 hrs.
