Preparation continues for the Berbice School Table Tennis competition organized by the Steering committee of the Berbice sub Association and slated for the week end of Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th April at the Berbice High School.
The competition, which is open to school children and those attending Tertiary Institutions, will be sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and will be played in five categories namely the U 10, U13, U15, U 18 and U21 and will be for both boys and girls.
Meanwhile, training sessions are continuing throughout the county on Saturdays in addition to sessions in the afternoons with Coaches Desiree Lancaster, Gibran Hussein, school teachers Jermaine Glasgow and Cordell Austin and Floyd Conway.
Schools with tables and those interested in having coaching done at their respective school can make contact with any member of the steering committee. Racquets, balls and other necessities are expected to be provided by the GTTA; however players are asked to walk with their racquets as far as possible.
Incentives for the tournament will be available for the top three finishers and other outstanding performers in the respective categories.
National coaches Linden Johnson and Ray Anderson are also expected in the ancient county to do stints along with senior players in Berbice.
