DEAR EDITOR,
All dictatorship has common characteristics such as:
* Well funded state Intelligence Agency to spy on their people
* Relentless propaganda campaign on state media based on invented lies
* Drivers of fear to stifle comments against injustice and state abuses
* Transported crowd of flag-waving, slogan chanting people whose sole responsibility is to take payment to chant for the leader when told to do so.
But what the dictators never calculated is the day when the dam burst. When the people from Bath, Mahaicony and Linden, etc. make that decision, enough is enough, no amount of bribe money from the dictator will stop change.
People in Guyana are suffering and hurting badly. Kwame please tell Babu Doc. Inventing allegation against those who expose the ill of the regime does not remove the core issues – poor leadership, lack of support from the Government, more jobs, personal security, hope, and so much more.
I know many in the ruling cabal are busy finishing their $60 million and $300 million houses, compliments of the taxpayer funds. But how long will these houses last when the forensic audit starts, the constitution is reformed and the law comes for these abusers of constitutional offices?
The power brokers in the PPP/PNC never got it with respect to putting food on the people’s table, putting clothes on the people’s back or putting shelter over their heads. To really achieve this Guyana needs a developmental model that is focused on job creation, crime reduction, and nurturing entrepreneurs.
We have had 28 years of the PNC; now 19 years of the PPP and ask anyone from the best days in Guyana’s history – is Guyana as a country any better off? Is our ability to create jobs any better? Is our ability to arrest crime any better? If that barrel or that “frek” does not come, many people in Guyana “goose cooked”. What the Jagdeo cabal has done in 28 months is worst than what the PNC did in 28 years. This is not the contract the people signed in 2006. Many of our people have been broken by the PPP into professional “beggars”. Well that has to change come post election 2011. Our people shall be trained, they shall work smarter, they shall earn more, they shall spend more and they shall finally live a life in dignity. But it will take time and honest leadership.I got this email from an old PYO/PPP colleague and he said to me “All the people want the PPP to go, but they are not listening”. Alluding to the Babu John PPP rally he added, “This is nonsense. They are pretending to show the population supports the government, which is a lie. The flag means nothing, if they don’t truck the people in with GuySuCo vehicles and give them freeness, no one will come.”
