With the Super 16 action scheduled to commence this weekend, the GT&T 1010 Cricket Competition is expected to get into top gear with matches planned for the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground and Everest Cricket Club on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
On Saturday in the Men’s category, four matches are scheduled, while in the Women’s segment another four matches will be played.
In the Men’s Division: Coomacka Mines United takes on Adventure Sports Club; Speedboat Warriors go up against Sandust XI; Affiance Storm battles Bush Lot Challengers and Wolf’s Warriors square off against Leguan Super Stars.
In the Women’s Division: Trophy Stall Angels engage All Star Conquerors; Speed Boat go up against Falcon Girls; Capoey Warriors challenge Wakapoa Female and Capoey Arrivals and Rising Star II square off.
On Sunday: (Men’s Division) – Universal Solutions Tigers battles Farm XI; Berbice Titans square off against Regal XI; Mahaica Raiders and Celebrity Times collide and Trophy Stall play Platinum Jaguars II.
In the Women’s category: Berbice All Stars and Mahaica Queens square off; Lusignan Street Warriors and Corriverton Queens battle; Mike’s Wellwoman and Victorious Warriors clash and MTWTFSS Warriors take on 4R Warriors. According to an official close to the Organising Committee, each team is guaranteed prize money from this stage which has $25,000 for the Men and $15,000 for the women.
The quarter-finalists will receive $50,000 for the men, while the women cart off $25,000 and those teams making it to the semi-finals will receive $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
The winning team will take home $2million plus a trophy while the loser is set to receive $500,000 plus a trophy in the men’s category.
The winner in the women’s category takes home $1million and a trophy, while the losing team $250,000 and a trophy.
