Preparations for the 36th edition of the Annual Bartica Regatta which is held over the Easter weekend have been going according to plans, that’s the word from Regional Chairman Holbert Knights.
Knights also disclosed that a lot of hard work is being put into making this year’s event the best ever and the support from the Government of Guyana and a number of business entities has been very encouraging.
Scotia Bank (Bartica Branch) recently handed over a cheque to the organisers of the event that will see a number of sporting and other activities making up the programme. Hundreds of Barticians and other Guyanese have already signaled their intentions of being home to take in the quality action and excitement that will be put on including the much anticipated Power Boat Racing and Jet Ski and Canoe Races. Dates for the football, road race, river swim and dominos are to be confirmed shortly.
There will also be the usual football competition, athletic road race around the community, river swim from Koaw Island to Bartica and dominos. The annual Beauty Pageant is another event that is eagerly looked forward to.
