…as vandals shatter his windscreen
Desmond Pompey of 23 Hill Street, Albouystown, has criticized actions by officers of Ruimveldt Police Station for failing to assist him in recovering his losses which he suffered as a result of malicious actions by a group of youngsters who reside in Albouystown.
Pompey said that due to lack of space in his yard he has two vehicles parked outside his property a car and a truck. “For many years I park my vehicle outside there; nobody don’t trouble it.
“Now they have some indisciplined young men that are bullies. They sit on my car top and when I talk to them they don’t want to come off. They telling me to call the police.”
A few days ago Pompey lost the back door of his truck. He also discovered that someone had punctured all four wheels of his car and shattered the windscreen of his truck while they were reportedly parked in front of his house.
The victim told this publication that he was sitting in his chair some time around 9:00pm on Monday night when he heard a startling sound. He said that he rushed to his windows and saw no one and decided to go down stairs. Then he learnt that it was the windscreen of his truck that was shattered.
The man said when he asked someone who was on the road at the time to explain what transpired, the person told him that he was not sure but as soon as he heard the loud “boof” and looked around he saw a group of young men running from the vehicle.
According to the man he made several reports to the Ruimveldt Station but the police have refused to render assistance.
The man said in one instance an officer told him to look out for when the police pass in the vans and stop them and inform them of what is taking place and see if they can help. Pompey added that he was lucky to see the police van but when he told them about his situation they just ignored him.
When this news paper contacted the Ruimveldt Police Station, a female officer said that they are looking into the matter.
