Works to Lethem/Linden road attract ‘alarming’ bids

…one more than 400 % above engineer’s estimate

The bids for the contract for the rehabilitation of three sections of the Linden to Lethem road yesterday were unveiled at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board and some were deemed to be alarming.
The project was divided into three lots by the Ministry of Public Works and the engineer’s estimate for Lot One is $48,815,500, Lot Two $70,000,000 and Lot Three $93,842,000.

Bids were also opened for the rehabilitation of the road between Lethem and Aishalton and this project was also divided into two lots by the Ministry of Public Works.
The engineer’s estimate for this project for Lot One is $61,037,100, Lot Two $86,769,000 and bids submitted:
