Mr Editor
I have just ‘discovered’ Mr Adam Harris’s column, written in clear, easy style, which lends itself readily to rapid reading. I am not wholly surprised that he is from the ‘oldish’ journalistic school. I’m sure he would not mind this description.
Normally, I confine my reading of Guyana’s newspapers to the News, Letters and Editorials, glancing fleetingly to other parts. But the headline “How much money is enough” (27th March), a subject much discussed worldwide at the moment, caught my eye and I decided to read it.
Then, the two subjects immediately preceding sounded interesting – “A Reporter’s Plight”
and “The New Law about Prescriptive Rights”. Again, an easy read and enlightening.
Yet, further down, the headline “The Passing of a Friend who was more than a Friend” (about Clem David’s death) touched a nerve, having recently lost a very close friend of 63 years’ standing, whose name needs no further mention. The closing sentence was particularly poignant “…..Clem has gone on taking with him another piece of me………..I will miss him”.
My thoughts precisely about my dear friend. I was close to tears.
I shall watch that space.
