The inclement weather has forced the organisers of the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF) one day horserace meet to push back the activity by one week.
According to information from the club, although the venue and the track which is considered one of the best in the country was ready for racing on race day last weekend. The wet and impassable condition of the other tracks, open fields and dams will not allow the horses to exercise, practice and train and will definitely affect their performance and risk injuries.
As such it was decided that the meet be pushed back to Sunday April 3 beginning at 13:00hrs at the RCMTC&SF entity Alness Corentyne.
The programme remains the same with eight races carded for the day.
Beverage giants, Banks DIH Limited sponsor the main C & Lower event over 1500m with a first prize of $450,000 and trophy.
The other races are in the E & Lower category which goes for 1400m with a winning purse of $260,000 and trophy; the 3yrs old race for Guyana and West Indies Bred horses over 1500m for a top prize of $220,000 and trophy; the G & Lower and the 3year old Guyana bred events which are both 1400m races with similar winnings of $200,000 and trophy.
The H & Lower event, the I2 & Lower race and the J, K & L race all over a similar 1400m distance with winnings being $150,000; $120, 000 and $100,000 and trophy respectively.
Top individual performers will be presented with trophies and other accolades compliments of The Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities among other donors.
