– Former Buxton gang member stabbed during prison brawl

A prison brawl between two high profile inmates, yesterday, has left one of them seriously wounded .Kaieteur News understands that inmate, Randy Joseph, was attacked and severely wounded by Jermaine Jerrick.
This newspaper was told that yesterday’s attack was in retaliation to an attack that Jerrick suffered over the weekend.
Jerrick, one of the suspects in yesterday’s incident, had reported that he was attacked by Joseph and others on Sunday. He said that as a result of that attack he had to receive 11 stitches for a wound in his head.
According to a source, on Sunday, Jerrick one of the accused Aranka gang members, was talking on a cellular phone to his girlfriend when he was attacked by another inmate who dealt him a cuff to his face.
The source said that when Jerrick tried to retaliate, other inmates joined in and began beating him about his body with wooden and iron objects.
A lash from one of the iron objects rendered him unconscious and it was not until the intervention of prison authorities that he was left alone.
Meanwhile this publication was told by sources in the prison that Joseph was in the holding area attempting to go speak to his relatives when Jerrick entered the room.
Kaieteur News understands that Jerrick walked up to Joseph and a scuffle ensued.
Joseph, according to eyewitnesses, tried to push Jerrick away but was forced against the wall by friends of Jerrick. “If you see how they push he to the wall and started stabbing he…..all Jermaine was saying I gun kill yah …I gun kill yah,” the eyewitness said.
The fracas sent a number of visitors who were waiting to see inmates running through the front entrance of the prison.
Prison officers eventually managed to subdue the inmates involved in the fracas. As the prison authority was trying to control the situation in the prison, another story was brewing outside of the prison.
Relatives of Jerrick, according to sources, kept taunting Joseph’s mother and girlfriend.
“Jerrick girlfriend came outside saying that Jermaine should have killed Randy,” the source explained.
Compounding the situation after the fracas, prison authorities refused to take an injured Joseph to the hospital.
According to relatives the prison infirmary cannot deal with the injuries that Joseph sustained.
Up to press time last night Joseph was still to be taken to the hospital.
Joseph is a former Buxton gang member who cheated execution attempts. In one case his fellow gang members had already dug a grave for him aback of the East Coast Demerara village and ordered him to lie in it with the intention of killing him.
However he managed to run away and although wounded by a bullet, he made his way to the Vigilance Police Station from where he was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
He was also known for his encounter with former Target Special Squad member, Eon ‘Gansta’ Smith who almost severed his tongue, in the height of the 2002-2006 crime wave.
