Marvin Joseph netted a hat-trick for Pele in the 29th, 51st and 66th minutes and received support from Konata Manning (76th) and Sheldon Holder (79th) in their 5-0 drubbing of Riddim Squad.
The competition continues tomorrow evening with two other exciting quarterfinals matches that pit the skills of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) against Conqueror’s FC while Western Tigers and Camptown FC oppose each other.
Meanwhile, organizer of the competition, Lennox Arthur has commended the participating teams for turning in excellent performances. He noted that the extra work put in by the respective teams have impacted positively on the tournament thus lifting the quality of play. The former national coach is anticipating stiff rivalry as the competition enters its final stages.
Arthur said that he had anticipated the intense rivalry and had secured additional sponsorship which allowed him to increase the prize money thus providing the impetus for players to turn in high class performances.
Now that the wheat has been separated from the chaff, Mr. Arthur envisages keen rivalry and urges the support of football lovers.
The team finishing first will receive one million dollars while the runners up pocket half that amount.
The third and fourth place finishers receive two hundred thousand and one hundred thousand dollars, respectively.
The first game kicks off at 18:00hrs tomorrow night while the second gets underway from 20:00hrs.
