Wakenaam/Leguan beat Bartica “B” in latest quarterfinal action

Wakenaam and Leguan combined defeated Bartica “B” by 21 runs in the latest quarterfinal action of Carib and D&C promotions floodlight twenty/20 cricket competition on Friday evening at the Bartica Community Centre ground.
The visitors batted first and rattled up a respectable 159 all out off their allotted overs. National U-19 player Ricardo Adams led with 38 (4×6,3×4) while Huckumchand Savitir contributed 30 (2×6,3×4) and Wayne Osborne made 26 (4×4).  Cort Welcome grabbed 4-8 while Festus Benn took 3-31 for the home team who in reply were bowled out for 138 in 19.4 overs.  Timothy Cornelius topscored with 40 (4×6, 2×4) and A. Bradford supported with 25 (1×6,3×4).
Wayne Osborne 3-22, Nazeer Mohamed 2-17, Imran Khan 2-20 and Kevin Gordon 2-23 did the damage for the winners.
The other matches were played over last weekend, while the third place playoff and final are fixed for this weekend. (Zaheer Mohamed)
