Guyana’s lone athlete to the CONSANAT Youth Championship in Lime Peru, Jessica Stephenson achieved another personal best time of 2:44.80 in the 200m Breaststroke, in which she finished 4th on day 4 of the championships, Saturday night.
According to a top Guyana Amateur Swimming Association Executive, the performance of the Trinidad and Tobago based Stephenson was an excellent effort from a young swimmer who just entered this age-group and who would be eligible to compete in the same age-group in 2013.
Mrs. Davina Stephenson, who accompanied Jessica as Manager/Coach, reported that Jessica is pleased with her performance and is confident that this will further improve her results at the Carifta Swimming Championships to be held in Barbados next month.
Jessica was entered in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke events. On March 23 she swam the 100m Breaststroke, making a personal best time of 1:15.28 in the heats and placing fifth in the final. In the 200m Breaststroke her entry time was 2:45.67 and qualified for the final, ranked 4th, with a time of 2:46.06.
