Dear Editor,
In answer to Nigel Green’s letter of March 25, in which he asked me about Prem Misir’s writings on my father, President Cheddi, and if Misir misrepresented the facts about Jagan?
Mr. Editor, I would not waste words to answer Green, except to say that Guyanese are not stupid as he might think; Guyanese are smart and can deduce things and there’s an old saying in Guyana: “mouthr and guitar” are two different tars” – one is sweet words and more sweet mouthr words, while the other is action and more guitar action.
Mr. Editor, Prem Misir can mouth all the ‘mouthr’ words he wants about President Cheddi to gather votes for his bosses.
Cheddi Jagan was the man who started the University of Guyana and would have wanted a well-respected university with good conditions for students and staff; instead, what we have from Misir is a don’t care attitude, leaving President Cheddi’s dreams for a better place of higher learning in shambles, while he enjoys the Pro-Chancellor position with no ‘guitar’action, only ‘mouthr’ nonsense with great pay and benefits which we, the citizens, have to fork up to keep him eating better than most Guyanese.
His position at UG is a slap in the face of President Cheddi’s legacy.
Misir has the right to write whatever he wants and if he praises Jagan, so be it, but I knew my father and he was more impressed by ‘guitars’ than ‘mouthrs’; so it really does not matter that Misir praised Jagan, because as a political hack involved in confusing the voters, he has to appear as a ‘mouthr’ for President Cheddi or his pay will be cut and his status diminished.
Misir will fall by the wayside sooner or later, as happen to all ‘mouthrs’, especially when their ‘guitar’ strings are all busted, as his are.
Cheddi (Joey) Jagan(Jr.)
