Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United, Camptown remain on course

Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United FC underlined its dominance on the local football scene with a 8-0 drubbing of BV/Triumph FC and cemented a place in the quarterfinals when play in the Mayor’s Cup Football extravaganza continued at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground Tuesday evening last.
Dwain Jacobs led the ‘Hammers’ charge with at hat-trick in the 2nd, 14th and 55th minutes, while he received support from Warren Gilkes who netted a brace in the 71st and 80th minutes.
The other players that breached the BV/Triumph defence were Anthony ‘Awo’ Abrams (30th), Shawn Bishop (45th) and Leon Grumble (62nd)
In the supporting game, Devon Forde stitched in a 50th minute effort to distinguish Camptown FC in their game against Bakewell Buxton Stars FC.
Both winning teams have since qualified for the quarterfinals scheduled for tomorrow night with two other exciting matches.
Alpha tackle Santos in the supporting match that pit Pele against Rhythm Squad.
Pele would back its chances on the capable boots of Travis Grant, O’Kenie Fraser and Marvin Joseph, all capable players on their day. They would have to be wary of the Hope brothers, Sheldon and Stephon who can prove to be a thorn in their side.
The teams have the added incentive of carting off the first place spoils of one million dollars with the runners up pocketing half that amount.
The third place finishers pocket two hundred thousand dollars, while the team finishing fourth receives one hundred thousand dollars. Kickoff time for tomorrow’s game is 18:00hrs.
