The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) has reported that works associated with the 15.6MW expansion of the new Kingston Power Plant are on track. The company says that on the second Friday this month negotiations for the two 7.8MW generators were successfully completed and the Units are now being prepared for their sea voyage. “They are expected in Guyana in May.” The foundation works are currently being undertaken and according to the Power Company is progressing smoothly “The contractor, Correia & Correia has completed the radiator foundations and is currently working on the two engine foundations…It is expected that the foundation works will be completed by the end of April, in time for the arrival of the engines in May.” GPL Chief Executive Officer, Bharrat Dindyal, had in November last revealed that the power company was seeking to acquire another 15.6 MW.
