With entries expected to be closed on Sunday and less than one week away from race date, the principals of the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF) has already put most systems in place for their grand one day race meet set for Sunday March 27 at the clubs track Alness, Corentyne Berbice.
With the Alness race track being touted at one of the fastest drying and better tracks in Guyana, the organisers stated that the current inclement weather will most likely not affect their day of racing.
The RCMTC&SF has eight races carded for the day’s programme with a number of top notch races listed with the C & Lower, E & Lower, 3yrs old Guyana and West Indies Bred, G & Lower, the 3year old Guyana bred event and the H & Lower races being the main drawing cards.
Beverage giants Banks DIH Limited sponsor the main C & Lower event over 1500m with a first prize of $450,000 and trophy.
The E & Lower gallop goes for 1400m with the winner set to take home $260,000 and trophy. The 3yrs old race for Guyana and West Indies Bred horses will run over a distance of 1500m with the winner taking away $220,000 and trophy.
The G & Lower and the 3year old Guyana bred events are both 1400m races with similar winnings of $200,000 and trophy available. Horses in the H & Lower 1400m event will have a first prize of $150,000 and trophy to aim for.
The other two races are for animals classified I2 & Lower, with the distance being pegged at 1400m and the winnings being $120,000 and trophy. The J, K & L race over a similar distance will see the winner running off with $100,000 and trophy.
Top individual performers will be presented with trophies and other accolades compliment of The Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities among other donors. Apart from main sponsor Banks DIH, Limited, Digicel is also on board.
The race will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
