While there has not been a dearth of athletes competing in the mainstream body building categories at the Guyana Amateur Body Building & Fitness Federation (GABBFF) competitions over the years, there has certainly been a dearth when it comes to the fitness aspect of the competition.
The sport has been struggling to regain the kind of popularity among athletes and fans it enjoyed up until a few years after Guyana hosted what was deemed the best ever CAC Championships in 2004 at the National Cultural Centre.
At least the fitness (men & women) aspect of the competition is expected to be boosted with the news that members of Guyana’s leading Dance Group, ‘Dance Fanatics’ signaling their intentions to compete on Sunday at the National Cultural Centre.
This group is quite popular in Guyana and has a reputation for their energetic and athletic performances whenever they perform in Guyana.
The five member group which includes one female will add a new flair and certainly much needed vigor to the sport and patrons will be looking forward to see what these individuals will be dishing competition wise out on Sunday evening.
Their entrance into the competition now can open the door to individuals from other dance groups taking up the challenge to compete at future competitions which would be a major plus and boost for the sport.
